What's up, I'm Elijah Galster.
Born in the small surf town of Santa Cruz, CA– one of the epicenters of surf and skate, I quickly became ingrained with the rich culture of the area. Here I was exposed to a steady stream of surf and skate graphics from NHS, Santa Cruz Skateboards, the legendary graphics of Jim and Jimbo Phillips, and other vintage relics. These unique experiences served as an early catalyst for my drive as a creative and continue to inform my approach to design.
The contemporary, the experimental, and the past of design and surf culture breathe through my work. My process and knowledge culminate in my work in brand and identity, typographic layout, and motion graphics, and aim to further enhance visual language with emotion. I believe that beyond all, design is emotive– it is function beyond form. The early graphics I encountered were visceral and impactful beyond print. They manifested emotion on the purest level, and continue to push me to meet the contemporary world of design with experimentation.
